About Us

The founding partners of Kortina Advisory are experienced professionals, based in Moscow, with an aggregate of over fifty years’ experience in the Russian market. They come from different but complementary backgrounds, covering banking, finance, legal operations, logistics, real estate and management consultancy.


The core group is supported by a team of Russian and international executives with experience in different spheres of the Russian market. Drawing on all these skill-sets, Kortina Advisory is able to form specific and targeted teams with the relevant expertise and experience to deal with a wide range of corporate assignments.


Our experience in day-to-day import and export operations also ensures that our consultancy is pragmatic, realistic and focused - we are in daily touch with the realities of business life in Russia.


BIOGRAPHIES

Michael Winn
(General Director) has been based in Moscow for fifteen years. He was Head of Corporate Finance for WestLB for 9 years and had many clients in the energy and natural resources sector, such as Gazprom, Rosneft, Lukoil, Norilsk Nickel and TNK-BP. He was involved in several major financings, predominantly for the energy and naturals resources sector in Russia. Prior to joining WestLB, Michael held senior posts with Chase Manhattan, Lloyds Bank, J P Morgan and British Gas and, in all these positions, he was responsible for developing business in the Russian market and assessing the creditworthiness and ‘bankability’ of clients and projects.
Since leaving WestLB in 2006, he has worked on a number of assignments (eg. M&A, raising finance, strategic business consulting) in the financial, transportation and energy sectors in Russia. He is an MBA holder and fluent Russian speaker.


Peter Schulze has been based in Moscow for eleven years. He was Counsel at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, one of the world's leading international law firms, and specialised in banking and finance. He was involved in many high profile financings in Russia, including facilities for Gazprom, Russian Railways, Itera, Rolf, Yukos, Rosbank, Open Investments, Rosneft, TNK-BP, Teorema, as well as on transactions that broke new ground for Russia - for example, the first domestic IPOs of Russian companies, the first future flow securitisation in Russia, the first Loan Participation Notes with linked warrant issue. All of these transactions involved complex structuring and documentation to seek to mitigate the risks arising from the Russian legal and commercial environment.
Peter is a graduate of Oxford University, a qualified English lawyer and speaks intermediate Russian.


Robert Mulligan has been based in Moscow for over fifteen years, during which time he was seconded to Kiev, Ukraine, for 18 months. Much of his career was spent in the City of London in Investment Banking, at companies such as Credit Suisse First Boston (including 2 years in the Singapore Office setting-up and establishing their commercial activities), Chase Manhattan, Drexel Burnham and ING Barings. As Head of Trading and Sales and, operating at Director/Managing Director level, he was a senior member of key Credit and Risk Management Committees and responsible for the coordination of the global activities of his product areas. In this role, he travelled widely to USA, Asia, Western and Eastern Europe and within the FSU.
In 2003, Robert was offered a partnership in a Moscow real estate firm and later formed his own company, BSN-Real Ltd. (www.bsn-real.com). He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI).


Alan McGregor has worked in Russia for the past twelve years and was a founding partner in a Private Wealth Management firm. He advises senior personnel at multinational corporations and other high net worth individuals on all aspects of personal finance. He also advises on corporate finance matters to small and micro sized companies in Russia. Prior to moving to Russia, Alan worked in Hungary, Hong Kong and Vietnam for private wealth management firms following his graduation from University in Aberdeen, Scotland. He is licensed by the Chartered Insurance Institute.


Giovanni Stornante is an Italian citizen who relocated to Moscow four years ago as an independent consultant. He previously dealt with Eastern Europe, Russia and the CIS markets, working mainly under the auspices of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Trade. In Moscow, Giovanni has provided advisory services to companies from diverse industrial backgrounds. This included projects with European and Russian corporations in the financial advisory field, IR and PR and, most recently, as the Russian representative of a leading Italian manufacturer of automated technologies. He is the founder and president of the business club "Italiani a Mosca". In addition to Italian, Giovanni is a fluent speaker of English, Russian and French.


Glyn Randles is a British businessman and entrepreneur, who relocated to Moscow in 2010. As a manager with the Whitbread company in the UK, he was responsible for all aspects of restaurant and hotel management, in a series of posts which gave him extensive experience of logistics, stock control, warehousing and both "front of house" and back office operations. He is currently developing Kortina’s growing import activities.


Stanislav Grafski is a qualified Russian Attorney at Law and has wide experience of various areas of Russian law. A fluent English speaker he was the first Russian to complete an MBA in Corporate Social Responsibility at a top western Business School. A "Manager of the Year" by Vedomosti (Russian affiliate of FT and WSJ),he has held several senior posts with Russian and international organisations, including MMD Corporate, PA & PR Consultants, Storm International, and Channel One TV Worldwide Broadcast. He provides multifaceted strategic counsel advice on start-up and business exposure/development issues in Russia and CIS. His other practice-based expertise areas embrace corporate communications strategies, Investor and Government Relations advice, reputation, crisis and contentious issues management, stakeholder communications and responsible business practices. Tatyana Rogozina is a qualified corporate analyst, who worked at KPMG Moscow for six years. In addition to her analytic duties, she was responsible for a wide range of research tasks and for the compilation of reports on sectors and individual corporates. Previous posts include internal control specialist at the National Bank of Development, Moscow. She is a native Russian and fluent English speaker.
